Post Production On-going!

Today our group went to Nate's house to do this Swagger Man post production. We've split our work task and work on our individual VFX shots. So we've five effects which is the hat appearing with the smoke effects, the lights coming out from the door, words flying out from Boy 2 hitting Boy 1 and also the shot whereby Swagger man would disappeared from the selfie that he took with Boy 1 and the one whereby Swagger man will disappear into dust after passing shirts to Boy 1. Well, so we've been finding tutorials to guide us on editing our shots, we've done a few VFX shots and we've gotten help and advises from one another to continue. We'll be heading to Nate's house and also school on Thursday and Friday to film for our title sequences. I guess that's about it for now.

Day 5 of Filming

Today we went to school at noon time to shoot for the remaining of our shots. We've gotten the help from the other groups to act as part of our calefare. The first scene we are shooting for the day is whereby Boy 1 will walk to school which is an establishing shot. Then next, we'll be taking a shot whereby Boy 1 will fall down and at one person's perspective view, Boy 1 will stands up and see the crowd dressing trendy when he isn't. So the crowd is acted by Me, Emily and the help from Justin and Zul to act. After then, we shot the scene of Boy 1's dream scene whereby he would face a crowd laughing at him for his dressing style. For the laughing scene, it's acted by Me, Justin, Zul and Ronald  (Swagger Man) whereby for swagger man, he isn't supposed to laugh but to give a calm face. For Boy 1, he would have to give a very shocked face when he was facing this crowd. Basically, this sums up all of our shots and we're done for the day.

I think that for today, it's quite a productive day as we've done all the shots that we're required to finish up. It's actually quite fun to act as a calefare, you get to join in the fun and get involved in the shooting. We're also thankful for Justin and Zul's help to act as calefare for us.

We're planning to do the post-production in week 3 of the holiday. For the rest of this week, we'll be focusing on our own individual assignments first. So probably, we will finish this Swagger Man series by the end of the holiday. I'm quite excited to see the final product of our filming. That's about it for today!

Day 4 of the Project

Today we went to Nate's house as usual to start on some of our post-productions work. Nate and Sean will be doing on some of the film editing while Me and Emily will be finding some suitable audios for our video as our video is supposedly to be a silent-movie. Ronald will be doing the group blog and also we are finding some of the tutorials to aid us in some of the VFX effects shots that we will be doing.

We'll be meeting up on next Monday to finish the remaining shots for our videos and hopefully everything will be done shooting by Monday.

Currently for today, we are doing fine and are still on our task everyday. It's quite fun filming with our group members and we get to share some of the skills together and improve in our work. Sometimes we'll meet some problems but after viewing some of the tutorials it could be solved very soon. That's about it for today.

Day 3 of Filming

Today we went to Nate's house and assembled at about 11am to prepare for our scenes. We set up the tripod and cameras. The first thing we shot is whereby Boy 1 would be in his pyjamas and sleeping. There's a few shots that we've taken such as from the front view of Boy 1, Boy 1's top view and side view. It's to actually achieve this effect of Boy 1 wake up in shock. After then, we had also shot Swagger Man flipping through Boy 1's wardrobe and finding the right clothes to suits the new style of Boy 1. After then, we took a break and went to the nearby coffee shop to have our lunch before continuing. The next thing we've shoot is a shot whereby the camera would follow Boy 1's back towards the main house door to open the door. Then from one person's view, we've done the shot of Boy 1 walking towards the door and opening the door whereby he would sees Swagger Man standing outside of the house. Then Swagger Man would forced himself to enter Boy 1's house and Boy 1 would attempt to stop Swagger Man from entering. We've also shot some close up shots of their expressions to show a better interpretation of what is happening.

I think that today is quite a productive day as we've completed those shots which is required at Nate's house. We're also on our time schedules too and we managed to complete in time without delay. It's quite a fun day and we've fun too while filming. We'll probably be doing some post-production tomorrow first and there'll be only some scenes left at school whereby we'll be filming on Monday when we've gotten the help from the other group. That's about it for today.

Day 2 of Filming

Today we went to school for our filming as usual, we meet around 10am and had all our equipment ready too. However, as the other group that we need them to act as a crowd were not in school today, we were lacking of sufficient people to do some of the scenes. Thus today we could only do some scenes whereby it would only involve the acting of our group members. We will leave those scenes to next Monday when we get the help of the other group for the crowd. Firstly, we shoot the scene of Boy 2 entering the classroom to mock at Boy 1 for the way he dresses. Next, we shot one of the VFX shots which is whatever Boy 2 says will appear out and hit Boy 1. After then, we also had the scene whereby Boy 1's sad face and went out of the classroom whereby Swagger Man would be standing outside the classroom witness Boy 1's act. We've also re-take the VFX scene of Boy 1 taking a selfie with Swagger Man and Swagger Man would disappeared from the photo eventually. That rounds up most of the jobs that we are supposed to do today and it's the end for today.

I think that today was a rather short filming day as we couldn't really do much shots without the help of the other group. For some of the scenes, we would have to shoot together on Monday as it would affects the lighting if we were to shoot on different days when we combine the footage eventually.

Day 1 of Filming

Today we Oloy Gaws team members assembled in school at 10am to start our first day of filming.  We had our breakfast first at south canteen then headed to collect our filming equipment. For today, we've borrowed two canon 60D cameras, a tripod and a Glidercam. So after we went to collect these equipment, we went to M313 classroom to put down our stuff and meanwhile Sean and Ronald went to change to their respective outfit. We went to school entrance pathway area to shoot for the scenes. The scenes we were shooting first is whereby Sean(Boy 1) and Ronald(Swagger Man) would be walking along a pathway and Swagger man would instruct Boy 1 to stop while he snapped his fingers. When Swagger man snapped his fingers, here's our VFX shots whereby we would create a floating cap effects. We were supposed to make two caps to float in the air. We uses strings to tie on the cap and make it seems floating. Then, we shot the scene when Boy 1 grabbed the cap. After then, we went back to the classroom to take a short break. After the break, we went up to block m the rooftop area. For this part, we were supposed to film Swagger Man and Boy 1 walking down the staircase and Boy 1 telling Swagger Man that he decided not to be swag anymore as he thinks that it's not the right style for him. Boy 1 would be looking sad and then we would film the over the shoulder scene whereby Boy 1 would passed the cap back to swagger man and swagger man took it back and put back to his head. After this shot, we took a break while drinking some fruit juice and then resume filming. We had helped from other group for one of the scene whereby the passer-bys would give a shocked face at Boy 1's changes when he was walking along the corridor. We've also managed to let Boy 1 and Swagger man to take a selfie as part of the scene which would be also used as a VFX shots in the later part. We later went back to classroom and shot the part whereby Boy 1 staring at the phone which he took a selfie with swagger man and swagger man gradually disappeared from the selfie. Boy 1 would then run out of the classroom and with the help of other group, we shot the final scene of the day by having Emily one of our group member; to be the new person to become swag.

 

I think the only difficulties we've met today is time consuming. We've missed out some shots due to time restrain when we need other group to be acting in the scene and they had to go very soon. Some of our shots have to be changed and re-shoot tomorrow.

 

We would improve on our time management and I think that every shot we took, we shouldn't rush and should think twice before heading to the next shot. We should always have backup plans in case of any hiccups that we'll be meeting.

 

For today, I think that the good thing is we had all the equipment ready and everyone are serious when doing work and filming. Everyone is working well and working hard today. I'm quite glad that we are still in our schedules despite having some hiccups. Although at the end of the day we were very tired, but I certainly enjoyed today.
